John Peters
We were so saddened by the death of Trent's Grand Old Boy, John Peters, on 24 May 2025.
He was the original Breakfast Show presenter in 1975, and remained with Trent and other East Midlands radio stations for the rest of his broadcasting career.
He was dearly loved by everyone who worked for him, and we were very privileged that he agreed to join our reincarnation of the station in 2011. He stayed with us until we closed in 2014.
You can hear his professionalism and enthusiasm in several of the recordings below. R.I.P., John.

"It was 20 years ago today.."
Well, not quite, but we had to close the station down on 23 December 2014 as the royalty rates had become unaffordable because we had so many listeners!
We were a bit surprised that this website still works - and even more so that the programme info is correct for each hour (even though there are no programmes now!!). Sadly, there is none of the modern-day optimisation for mobiles, so you may have to squint!!!
However, you can re-live some of our output here. Recordings include a montage of our first day on 3 July 2011 right through to Jeff Owen's show on the final day, his 2pm news bulletin and 'Our Final Hour' with John Peters. That was fitting as John also launched the original station on 3 July 1975. There are also airchecks of live outside broadcasts, news bulletins, Xmas lights switch-ons, etc.
